Brush Mowing in West Simsbury, CT
Overview & Scope

The client reached out for a full property overhaul for a two-acre lot that had been cleared years ago but was eventually reclaimed by heavy brush and overgrowth. As vegetation took over, visibility and access to key features of the property, including a pond and a stream, were lost. The goal of the project was to completely reset the landscape through comprehensive mowing and grading, restoring usability while creating a property that could be easily maintained moving forward.

Approach and Challenges

Given that the majority of the work area was on or near wetlands surrounding the pond and stream, crews began by developing a systematic plan to approach the project responsibly and efficiently. The layout of the land, sensitive areas, and access points were evaluated to determine the safest and least disruptive way to complete the work while still achieving a full overhaul.
Once the plan was established, systematic brush mowing was carried out across the entire two-acre property. Dense brush and overgrowth were cut back in stages, reclaiming open ground and restoring visibility to the water features. As mowing progressed, excess dirt generated from unrelated construction elsewhere on the property was repurposed and graded to level uneven areas. Rather than hauling away this material, it was used strategically to improve the overall flow and usability of the land, turning what would have been nuisance fill into a functional improvement.
Finished Result

The overhaul resulted in a fully reclaimed and leveled property. Heavy brush was eliminated, sightlines to the pond and stream were restored, and the land was transformed into an open, usable area that can now be maintained with a standard lawn mower. Uneven sections were corrected through on-site material reuse, reducing waste while adding long-term value. The final result reflects a complete reset of the property, balancing usability, maintainability, and careful consideration of the surrounding wetland environment.
